FABRIC DESIGN CONTEST: SQUAWK! SUPPORTING PRINTS

Hi everyone!

Today I am really excited!! As you may remember, my design Squawk! got finalist at the Connecting Threads fabric design contest.

Since then I've been working on the supporting prints of the collection and today they are shown at the Connecting Threads blog! There's also a little bio about myself!

I started thinking about designing my own fabrics since a while ago and I found the inspiration to start drawing during my daily visits to the beach. My partner loves surfing and although surfing isn't for me, I enjoy spending some time just observing around! California inspires me so much!

I started drawing everything that made me feel alive, the shape of the lifeguard towers, the busy seagulls, the dolphins jumping few feet from me, the beautiful seashells that appeared on my way, the footprints on the sand, all! I didn't want to miss any detail!

Then I realized that would be amazing to have all those fabulous moments printed on fabric and I started working on it! It was a coincidence that 2 weeks later I knew about the Connecting Threads fabric design contest, so I decided to hurry up and get at least one design ready for the contest! I submitted Squawk! the last day that the contest was open! Lucky that I did!
I also wanted to show you the color palette I used, the sunset palette! The first time I saw a sunset in California I thought it was the most beautiful combination of colors I had ever seen. What I didn't know yet was that it would be the color palette of my first fabric designs! I love those colors! So I had no choice...I had to use them on my prints! :)

It has been a dream come true for me to have this opportunity and I really like the little story that my prints try to tell! Hope you like it too! Here they come:

I can't stop imaging my drawings printed on fabric and all I would like to sew with them!

You can read older post about my design Squawk! here, here and here!

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a great week!

  1. These are beautiful! I was about to tell you that the dolphins are my favorite, but I don't think I have a favorite because I like all of them. Thank you for sharing about your process. I can see why you were inspired by that color palette - stunning! Best of luck to you in the contest!

  9. Those are ALL fabulous!!! I can't really pick a favorite because I like them all. The one that seems to be a shell is lots of little images of shells making it up...genius! Thanks for sharing those images with us...I saw your post over at "A Stroll Thru Life" blog party.
