SWEET CHAINS QUILT

I finished this wonderful sweet chains quilt few days ago but it’s been raining a lot here and it was impossible to take decent photos! Fortunately yesterday we had sunshine and I have lots of photos to share!

As I mentioned in my last post I designed this quilt pattern in California some months ago and I was looking forward to start it since! Now that I finally see it done, I think it is even more amazing than I imagined! It’s all sweetness! The mainly colors, pastel pink, white and blue gray create a very romantic look which I absolutely love! The fabric prints are floral motifs and straight stripes.

The final quilt size is 57"x57". It’s a pretty big one suitable for either a single or a double bed. It will look gorgeous draped over the end of a bed, chair or sofa. And why not also as a picnic quilt! I love how versatile it is this one!
This quilt pattern combines two different quilt blocks. When all the blocks are sewn together you can see how vertical pastel pink chains appear and here is the reason why I named the quilt sweet chains. I have machine quilted this quilt around the chains in order to enhance them and also around the entire quilt.
For the borders I used a grey and white straight stripes fabric. The quilt has elegant mitered corners, I expected it would be more difficult to make them but it ended up being really fun! I was happy to learn something new! Thanks mom for teaching me!

For the binding I used the solid blue gray fabric which is one of my favorites. It gives a denim touch! The binding is double to add extra durability and I have hand stitched it to the back.

For the back I have combined some of the fabrics used for the top, so the quilt is perfectly reversible!

In case anyone is interested in making this lovely quilt I am preparing detailed instructions for this pattern with a tutorial for mitered corners. Coming soon! J

This Sweet chains quilt is on sale! I have listed it in my new Sewing Lab Shop on Etsy. I've decided to sell some of my quilting projects online and here you have the listing details of my first item! This quilt is looking forward to find a lovely family!

Thanks for stopping by,
Hope you are having a great weekend!
